Microsurgery for varicocele

Microsurgery for varicocele

Varicocele is a pathology that bothers or can alter a man's reproductive capacity. At the Urology and Andrology Department we know how to resolve this situation with different surgical approaches, such as traditional surgery, venous embolisation and even microsurgery.

Microsurgery for varicocele is a minimally invasive approach to the spermatic cord where the diseased veins are located. Under sedation and local anaesthesia, we make a 2-4 cm incision in the root of the scrotum through which we work with a microscope that allows us to individually ligate the veins of the spermatic cord, respecting the rest of the structures, such as the testicular artery, the seminal duct and the lymphatic vessels and nerves.

In this way, post-operative complications are significantly reduced, and the possibility of an earlier return to work and sexual life is granted.
