Chlamydia
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. It usually has no or very mild symptoms, but can have serious and irreversible complications such as infertility in women. Symptoms, when present, usually appear several weeks after infection and are manifested by discharge from the penis or abnormal vaginal discharge or a burning sensation when urinating. The most frequent is penile dribbling in the morning or increased discharge.
Diagnosis:
Chlamydia infection is detected by analysis of urethral or vaginal discharge or urine (PCR) if there is no discharge.
Treatments:
With a single dose of antibiotic we can definitively cure the disease. Partners of patients who have the disease should follow the treatment at the same time to avoid re-infections.
