Transperineal fusion prostate biopsy + Micro-ultrasound Technique = Madrid Protocol
At GUA we are pioneers in the Canary Islands in this test that guarantees the most accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer. With transperineal fusion prostate biopsy we achieve an exploration that other techniques do not achieve and that surpasses the traditional transrectal biopsy in its ability to detect cancer. In addition, we apply the Madrid protocol which consists of combining prostate biopsy by fusion with the micro-ultrasound technique.
Transperineal fusion prostate mapping, which fuses the images extracted from the multiparametric MRI with those obtained in a live ultrasound scan, thus obtaining a 3D image in which we identify the exact points in which to perform the biopsy, with a 360º view.
Why do we use this type of biopsy in GUA?
We guarantee the most accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer.
If an elevated PSA (portate-specific antigen) is observed during a urological examination, or if areas of induration are palpated during a digital rectal examination, this technique can be used.
Prostate cancer remains the most common cancer in men, with 1 in 9 men diagnosed. Moreover, it usually has no symptoms until it is in advanced stages. For this reason it is vital to make an early and accurate diagnosis.
At GUA we are always looking for the best tools to assist our patients and this mapping, which fuses the images extracted from the multiparametric MRI with those obtained in the ultrasound, allowing us to obtain a 3D image with which to identify the exact points in which to perform the biopsy, is the best tool at the service of the health of our patients.
