About me
I am a specialist in Urology, I did my residency at the Fundació Puigvert with the title of Fellow of the European Board of Urology and Fellow in Sexual Medicine by the ESSM (European Society for Sexual Medicine).
In addition to being medical director of GUA Urology and Andrology, a pioneering center in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for 30 years, I am part of the robotic surgery team in Madrid ICUA with Dr. Richard Gaston and Dr. Fernando Gomez Sancha.
After having been able to develop my profession in different public and private healthcare centers, I realized that the humane treatment of the patient should never be put in second place. People with some kind of illness are first and foremost people and not just another number or another case. Patients today more than ever need to be listened to and given all the time they deserve. This is not only the first phase of treatment and comforts the patient, but also improves the diagnostic quality of the professionals, since lack of time and haste, on most occasions, are what can lead to medical error.
I have extensive training in laser and laparoscopic prostate surgery, both in benign and malignant pathology, with results that support a career focused mainly on this type of ailments.
Having worked in different centers of great volume and maximum renown internationally recognized, has allowed me to bring to our center a work dynamic based on excellence and human quality to always place us at the highest level.
ROBOTIC SURGERY
My first contact with robotic technology was during my residency at the Puigvert Foundation in Barcelona, one of the first centers in Spain and Europe to acquire this surgical system.
During my residency, I had the opportunity to learn from renowned surgeons such as Dr. Breda, Dr. Palou, Dr. Rosales and Dr. Gaya, pioneers in the transition from open surgery to robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery. This experience allowed me to gain knowledge about their techniques, strategies and surgical approaches, not only in terms of execution, but also in assisting other urologists and thus gaining full control over the robotic surgical approach.
After completing my residency, I had the privilege of working with Professor Richard Gaston on numerous surgeries. Dr. Gaston is considered, as of today in 2023, the best surgeon in this technique due to his ability to preserve the structures that minimize the side effects of the interventions we perform thanks to the precision of his movements and anatomical knowledge.
My experience in Madrid with Dr. Gaston and Dr. Gómez Sancha left a deep impression on my training. Not only was I able to learn new techniques, but they also shared with me a spirit of constant improvement, innovation and optimization of each surgical step. In addition, doctors like Dr. Gomez Sancha taught me the surgical details that make the difference in the pursuit of excellence in the treatment of our patients.
Today, I consider myself part of the second generation of young urologists robotic surgeons, with extensive experience and training in this specialty since my early days as a physician.
