For all the attendees, the organisers first and foremost, the XVIII Congress of the Canarian Urology Society, held in the incomparable setting of the Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa, was a real success, in terms of attendance, participation and interest in the topics covered during the three days.

Already on the first day, with the topic of benign hypertrophy, moderated by Dr. Villalgordo, from the Hospital de Fuerteventura, with interventions by Dr. Rapariz, Dr. Romero, Dr. Galbis and Dr. Gómez Sancha, the interest of the meeting was evident, especially when, during the question and answer session, controversies arose regarding bipolar reception or the use of the green laser, or when Dr. Hernandez Fernandez let slip that there was an increasingly pronounced tendency among professionals to forget about drugs and think more about the different types of laser, controversy arose regarding bipolar reception or the use of the green laser, or when Dr. Hernández Fernández pointed out that there was an increasingly pronounced tendency among professionals to forget about drugs and think more about the various emerging therapies.

The latest developments in urology were discussed in the afternoon by Dr González Chávez, on laporoscopy; Castro Díaz, who spoke about what was new in functional and female urology and Dr Vivancos, to conclude the first day with a round table on sexual health and urologists, with the participation of Dr Artiles, Dr Juárez, Dr Gutiérrez, Dr Ruiz Ruiz Castañé and Dr Mas García.

TO THE LAYMAN'S EYE. At a medical congress, at any medical congress, a layman feels like an octopus in a garage. In some of the speeches one can only manage to understand good morning, patient, pharmacopoeia and operating theatre. The rest is all Chinese to the undersigned. However, sometimes, when there are people at the congress who know their stuff and want to tell others about it, even if you are not a specialist, you can even have a good time. In Mogán, this happened with interventions such as those of Dr. Hernández, who took a break from the pharmacopoeia to talk about the greater use of emerging therapies, those of Dr. Ponce himself, who questioned the value of laser against traditional techniques before the guru of that technique, Dr. Gómez Sancha, or the fine sense of humour of Dr. Mas García, when talking about orgasm and referring to the great Hedy Lamarr as the first woman to use a mobile phone and record an orgasm for the cinema, to end with Dr. Ruiz Castañé's anecdote about the case of the Chinese woman who, on seeing what had been put in her husband's penis transplant, said that she wanted nothing to do with the new thing her partner was showing off.
