Dr. Alfonso Gómez de Liaño

Alfonso Gómez de Liaño Lista is the doctor responsible for the management of patients with genitourinary cancer at the Medical Oncology Service of the Complejo Hospitalario Universitario Insular-Materno Infantil. He is also the Medical Oncologist of the Uro-Oncology Unit of the Urology and Andrology Department.

After obtaining her degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Salamanca in 2008, she completed her MIR in Medical Oncology at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Barcelona, in 2013.

Since then, he has focused his professional career on clinical and translational research in the area of urological tumours. He has participated, as principal investigator, in multiple phase I, II, III and IV clinical trials testing the safety and efficacy of new molecules in genitourinary tumours.

During 2016 and 2017 he completed a fellowship in clinical research and immunotherapy at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, under the supervision of Professor Thomas Powles. During the same period she worked in the Renal Cancer Unit at the Royal Free Hospital, London, led by Axel Bex and Thomas Powles.

He is a member of different scientific societies such as SEOM, ESMO, SOGUG and GETICA, with which he actively collaborates both in scientific research and teaching. He also collaborates in the training of residents in Medical Oncology at the Hospital Insular.  

Finally, he has participated as a speaker at numerous symposia and congresses, has authored several articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, addressing different topics in medical oncology, and has participated in the Spanish adaptation of the NCCN clinical guidelines for prostate cancer.
